Reading this was like watching and rewatching a loop of film. So very repetitious. How many times did we need to hear about his father sitting on the back porch back to the lake playing solitaire? How many times did we have to hear identical words describing the elderly woman who, while being washed, sat up and died? Ditto for the frogs in his house getting into dust bunnies and him taking them outside and wash them off? Ditto cockroaches. Ditto the number and range of Earl's books and records. I enjoyed his earlier works but he should have not written this one.
